Opportunity cost of illegal war, illegal occupation, and war crimes

by Mark Yannone

If they're your dollars, why don't you just keep them in your pocket and spend them yourself as you see fit?

Oh, wait, I know . . . it's because government does a better job of spending your money. Right?

Or maybe it's because it's not really your money?

You decide.

The terrible reality:
I have been working forty years.
47% of my tax dollars goes to the
war industry(don't call it defense!
How much suffering and death have my taxes financed in those forty years, through military invasion or
covert CIA activity?
Mulitiply that 47% by millions of
other Americans' taxes,in just the
same forty years.How many millions
of men, women and children have been
mutilated and slaughtered,human
beings thousands of miles away, who
never did a damn thing to me,my
country,or anyone else?
And did I, or the majority of my
fellow Americans,ever once contact
my Rep. or Senator in the District
of Criminals,to demand,"Don't you
dare spend MY money to do these things! My country is literally falling apart, perhaps beyond repair, and look what you use my tax
dollars for. You,my elected representative, will never have to
worry about health care, for you or
your family.You will never need
Social Security income,as you will
have your hefty government pension
(You will still collect your SS
check when the time comes, why not,
every little bit helps).Except for
men like Senator Jim Webb, your children will likely never serve in
the military, little on see combat.
Overall, I get the sinking feeling
that most of your ilk, once you park
your asses in the seats of those
chambers, voice an unspoken
"Suckers!" to we naive souls back in the boondocks. After all, them that has, gets.Perhaps worst is the
fact that,through my tax dollars,
you have made me guilty with you,
that I did not hold you accountable
for the crimes you commited against
my Country,and the World.
I am complicit.
